Hotel Tugu Lombok is set along miles of pristine white-sand Sire Beach on the island’s northwest coast. This beach is considered one of Lombok’s most beautiful beaches, with clear, calm waters and rich underwater life. Just a fifteen-minute boat ride from the Gili Islands, the hotel greets each morning with the measured rise of the sun behind Mount Rinjani. Almost without noticing, as you stay here, you begin to practice what can only be described as the art of stillness—of slowing down, of being present.
The architectural form of the hotel becomes a soft conversation with rich Indonesian heritage. From the moment we enter the hotel grounds, there is an unspoken inclination to stay here a little longer. A feeling that we find when we leave everything behind and allow time to slow on its own.
It comes as no surprise, then, that in 2025 the hotel received MICHELLIN recognition, becoming the only hotel in Lombok to receive this honour. We felt this sense of ease most clearly during our stay last January. In the quiet moments, we began to notice the small details—subtle, almost unspoken—that gently shaped the entire stay.
Swarga – Garden Villa

The moment we open the door, a quiet sense of relief settles in. The ceilings are high. The room feels spacious and unhurried. It is like stepping into a wide, embracing space which gently invites you to slow down and stay a little longer. Staying at Svarga Garden Villa brings an immediate sense of ease and relaxation.
Upon check-in, a refreshing welcome drink awaits: young coconut, picked directly from the hotel’s own coconut grove, bringing the experience even closer to the place itself. It sets the tone for a restful stay. Inside the room, the complimentary amenities are thoughtfully prepared. Fresh fruit is ready on the table. Coffee and tea are available to brew at any time.
Ahead, the view opens onto an outdoor hall framed by lush tropical trees, with subtle cultural accents thoughtfully placed throughout the grounds. Each villa features its own private terrace, heavenly beds, an outdoor dining area, and semi-outdoor bathrooms nestled within a garden setting, complete with round soaking tubs and oversized rain showers. An eclectic mix of furnishings, from aged wood textures to elegant gold-toned details, adds character without overwhelming the space.
Tugu Hotel Style and Character

Hotel Tugu Lombok is not merely a collection of traditional architectural forms. It arrives complete with stories. Plaques and fragments of history quietly line the space. History lives in the corners of the rooms. It stretches across the landscape of the property, felt rather than announced.
This devotion to story goes beyond slogans. Even the floors beneath the feet in our villa were taken from original old buildings and carefully relocated here. It is one of the reasons the hotel feels unmistakably authentic. Hotel Tugu Lombok finds its identity in influences drawn from different chapters of Indonesian history, with plaques, photographs, and carefully chosen tchotchkes lending the place an eccentric, lived-in character. You carry the experience with you long after you check out—and, of course, you can always return.
It feels almost effortless to sink into the hotel’s atmosphere. A quiet calm moves through the space, shaped by the softness of cultural details that define Hotel Tugu Lombok. This is the quality that makes an escape here feel perfectly placed.
Service and Facilities

This is the most important part. Without thoughtful service and well-planned facilities, nothing else would feel complete. From the moment we arrived, everything moved with quiet ease. And even when it was time to say goodbye, the experience stayed with us.
From the moment we arrived, someone was already there to take our bags. Smiles came easily, without formality. Questions were answered before we thought to ask them. Conversations never felt rushed. If we lingered, they stayed. If we needed space, they understood. This quiet attentiveness shaped the rhythm of our days. Unhurried, considerate, and effortlessly calm.
As your stay begins to unfold, the experience naturally moves beyond the room. To explore every side of Hotel Tugu Lombok, the hotel embraces an eat-anywhere approach. Breakfast can be served on the beach. Lunch may take place on a boat. Dinner might unfold beneath a pergola, overlooking a temple.
As evening falls, the choices become more intimate. A private dinner can be arranged beneath the stars near the temple grounds. Candlelight and softly glowing torches set a quietly magical mood. There is also the option of a private table on the beach. Flickering candles, a small bonfire, and the sound of waves become the evening’s soundtrack. Dining here is never confined to one space. It moves gently across the property, shaped by the moment and your mood.
You can also make use of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, snorkels, and other beach equipment free of charge. A beach bar, swimming pool, restaurant, spa, and fitness centre are all part of the experience. Room service, laundry service, parking, and Wi-Fi are quietly in place—ensuring everything you need is available, without ever interrupting the rhythm of your stay.
Food and Drink

We found ourselves spending most of our time simply enjoying ourselves, moving with the rhythm of the day. Yet the hotel’s culinary offerings proved just as compelling as its calm, unhurried spaces.
At Kokok Pletok, the hotel’s open-air restaurant overlooking both the pool and beach, the menu reads like a love letter to Indonesian flavors, serving as the main breakfast spot and remaining open for dining throughout the day. Here, traditional and contemporary dishes coexist in perfect harmony. Start with the Gohu Ikan Tuna, raw tuna tossed in Ternate’s signature shallot, crushed roasted peanuts, local basil, and fragrant virgin coconut oil. For something more playful, try the Pasar Sate Kepulauan, a parade of seven Indonesian satays with prawns, chicken, lamb, fish, Angus beef, red pepper soybean cake, and eggplant, complemented by peanut sauce, sweet soy lime and chili, shallot and lemongrass relish, and other vibrant condiments.
Seafood lovers will gravitate toward the Chili Lime Fish, a seared fisherman’s catch, grouper, bathed in mildly spicy chili lime sauce, paired with fragrant cilantro lime rice. On the heartier side, Ares Daging Asap brings slow-cooked banana tree hearts with Lombok herbs—galangal, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, and candlenut. It is served alongside smoked beef tenderloin and turmeric rice. And for a lighter, aromatic touch, the Barramundi Fish Curry features a delicate white curry with young star fruit, tomato, and Thai basil, paired with turmeric rice.
Every dish feels like a small adventure, a journey through the islands’ rich culinary landscape, perfectly complementing the effortless ease of time spent at the hotel. And every afternoon, between four and six, you will be treated to complimentary tea by the beach, where you can sample jamu, it is Indonesia’s traditional herbal drink made with turmeric, ginger, lemon, and honey—along with local snacks like soybean tempura and pandan cookies.
What Lingers After Hotel Tugu Lombok

By the time our stay came to an end, we realized how gently time had passed. Days moved without urgency. Morning light, quiet meals, short walks along the beach—each moment felt enough. Nothing here ever asked to be rushed. And that was the point. Hotel Tugu Lombok is not a place to fill an itinerary. It is a place to step away. To breathe easier. To exist without distraction. To practice the art of stillness. Long after leaving Sire Beach, the feeling remains. Uncomplicated. Grounded. And quietly unforgettable.
