Guide to Tanjung Bloam: The Secluded Beach in East Lombok

Tanjung Bloam Beach

If you want to discover more about this island, take a step toward the forgotten beauty of southern Lombok, where coastal gems still lie untouched. Among these, there is Tanjung Bloam — a secret slice of beauty.

This beach isn’t just a feast for the eyes — it’s also a sanctuary. Tanjung Bloam is known as a turtle conservation area, where these gentle creatures find shelter along a shoreline that stretches from south to north. But the turtles are just the beginning.

Once your feet touch the soft, powdery sands and your eyes catch the shimmer of its crystal-blue waters, you’ll understand why this place feels like a dream almost forgotten by time. Local fishermen come and go in their small boats, adding life and rhythm to the calm coastal landscape.

Tanjung Bloam Beach

But what truly sets Tanjung Bloam apart is its raw, dramatic charm. Two towering cliffs — sculpted over centuries — flank the beach like guardians. On the left, a smooth rock formation shaped like a steamed bun (bakpao), and to the right, a jagged cliff juts toward the sea, wild and unstructured. Their golden-yellow hues streaked with abstract black veins stand in striking contrast against the deep blue canvas of the ocean.

If you’ve been to Tanjung Ringgit, you’ll find similarities here — both are wild, both are wrapped in rocky hills. But for photographers and curious souls, Tanjung Bloam is a playground of perspective. Trace the shoreline, climb the rugged rocks, and you’ll uncover angles worth capturing and keeping forever.

Up for a bit of a climb? Ascend the stony hill and be rewarded with a panoramic view so captivating, it feels like stepping into a moving painting. Down below, waves crash gently against the rocks, and the wind carries stories from the sea. It’s a place where you don’t just take pictures — you make memories.

Be mindful though — the waves here can be rough. It’s not ideal for swimming, but perfect for those who seek stillness, scenic wonder, and soul-refreshing solitude. Lounge by the shore, take in the textures, and let nature’s artistry wash over you.

Getting There

Tanjung Bloam is tucked away in Jerowaru, East Lombok. From Mataram, prepare for a scenic 2.5-hour drive. If you’ve been to Tanjung Ringgit, you’re already halfway there. Before you reach Ringgit, take a small turn to the right — just wide enough for one car. About 500 meters in, you’ll see a little pavilion that marks your arrival at Tanjung Bloam.

The road might be dusty, unpaved, and pebbled, especially in the dry season — but that’s part of the adventure. It’s what keeps this place secluded, special, and untouched.
