Top Spots to Explore on Moyo Island
Moyo Island has many natural attractions that are still untouched by mass tourism. Here are some of the highlights:
Mata Jitu Waterfall – The Queen’s Waterfall

This is the most famous spot on the island. Mata Jitu Waterfall is called the “Queen’s Waterfall” because Princess Diana visited it in 1993. To get there, take a motorbike taxi (ojek) from Labuan Aji village, then walk 15–30 minutes through the forest.
The waterfall has four levels and seven natural pools. The water is crystal clear and has a greenish-blue color. You can even see the bottom of the pool, which is about 2.5 meters deep. Stalactites and stalagmites add to its beauty.
Diwu Mbai and Sengalo Waterfalls
These two waterfalls are less famous but just as beautiful. They are surrounded by thick forest and offer quiet places to swim and enjoy nature.
Takat Sagele – Coral Sand Island
Takat Sagele is a shallow coral reef area that turns into a small island during low tide. Visitors can walk on the soft white sand surrounded by clear water and colorful fish. It’s a great spot for photos and snorkeling.
Pink Beaches

Some of Moyo Island’s beaches have pink sand, created by crushed red coral mixed with white sand. These rare beaches are beautiful and peaceful, perfect for a romantic getaway.
Luxury Resorts Resort to Stay
Even though Moyo is a quiet island, it has hosted many world-famous people. Princess Diana came here to escape the spotlight. Other celebrities who have visited include Mick Jagger, David Beckham, Rain and Kim Tae Hee from Korea, and tennis star Maria Sharapova.
One reason they come is Amanwana Resort, a luxury eco-resort offering glamping in safari-style tents. The resort has only 12 tents, giving guests privacy and comfort surrounded by nature. There are jungle tents and ocean tents, and the price includes meals and top-class service. A night at Amanwana can cost up to Rp 20 million (around US$1,300).
