
If you’re looking to enjoy a beach with a different kind of view, Pink Beach Lombok could be one of your options. Pink Beach Lombok is located in Temeak Hamlet, Serewe Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. Pink Beach Lombok, also known as Tangsi Beach, is unique for its pink-colored sand. This beach also doesn’t have large waves, making it a perfect place to find peace and quiet.
Why Pink Beach Lombok Special
Pink Beach Lombok is one of the few beaches in Indonesia with pink sand.
The pink color comes from a mix of white sand and tiny fragments of dead red coral. Sunlight and the wash of seawater enhance the pink hue even more.
Pink Beach Lombok has gentle waves, which makes it a comfortable place to relax—especially with clouds rolling in the blue sky when the weather is clear.
The hills surrounding the beach add to the beauty of the scenery.
To the left of the beach, there are wide grassy hills. If you climb them, they’ll be rewarded with a sweeping view of Pink Beach. To the right, there are gazebos available for relaxing.
Pink Beach Lombok is in a fairly remote area, which helps preserve its beauty.
There are still very few food or drink vendors in the area, and no accommodations yet. We are advised you to bring their own food. After spending time here, most pepole head straight back to the city without staying overnight.
History of Pink Beach Lombok
Previously, Pink Beach Lombok was called Tangsi Beach. Not many people knew about this remote location. To reach it, you had to go through tropical forest and rough roads.
At first, Pink Beach was only visited by local youths in Lombok around 2012–2013.
Eventually, word about the pink sand spread among travelers and youths in Mataram. They began visiting and capturing the beauty of the beach, which later went viral on social media.
Right now, Pink Beach Lombok, promoting it under a new name: Pink Beach Lombok.
They also opened up an alternative route by sea, using boats from the Tanjung Luar dock in East Lombok.
Today, Tangsi Beach is better known as Pink Beach Lombok.
Activities at Pink Beach Lombok
There are several activities you can enjoy at Pink Beach Lombok:
1. Snorkeling

The clear waters allow you to see colorful corals and fish.
Snorkeling is a favorite activity here, but you must bring their own gear, as there are no rental shops available.
2. Playing in the Sand

Playing in the sand is especially fun here due to the unique mix of white sand and crushed coral.
3. Swimming

Swimming is a favorite too, thanks to the clean water and gentle waves.
Swimming in the ocean with a breeze and sunlight feels quite different from swimming in a pool.
4. Island Hopping
For those not into swimming or snorkeling, island hopping is a great way to relax.
Just hop on a boat and explore the stunning spots around Pink Beach.
6. Grilling Fish
Pink Beach is surrounded by marine farms or the fisherman. You can find lobsters, groupers, and more here. The fisherman usually provide a grilling spot, making your trip even more enjoyable.
How to Get to Pink Beach Lombok
There are two main access routes: by land and by sea.
By Land
Travel from Mataram City to Pink Beach takes about 2 hours by road, around 85 kilometers.
The route from Mataram to Pink Beach is fairly straightforward.
Just head east toward Praya. There are three road options:
- Sengkerang Main Road
- Mataram–Labuhan Lombok Road (also called Mataram–Sikur Road)
- Lombok International Airport Bypass Road
Once in Praya, continue on the Keruak Main Road to Pink Beach.
The road is not perfectly smooth, but it’s decent.
From there, follow TGH Moh Mutawalli Road.
About 4–5 km before reaching the beach, the road becomes unpaved and bumpy.
By Sea
You can also reach Pink Beach Lombok by sea via Tanjung Luar Harbor.
Travel from Mataram to Tanjung Luar takes around 1.5 hours, covering about 66 kilometers.
You can go by motorbike or car.
There are two boat options:
- Private boats: Round trip, around IDR 900,000 for one boat.
- Public boats: One-way service, IDR 30,000–40,000 per person.
- (Prices are still approximate, so be sure to check again for confirmation.)
Choose the option that suits your needs—and don’t forget to negotiate, you might get a better deal!
Note: Just a heads-up—over time, the pink hue at Pink Beach might not look as striking as in the photos. It can vary depending on the sunlight, season, and natural changes.
